WFCDC members and friends are having conversations these days, with everyone we know, about the importance of voting and voting BLUE. Read here to build your facts and argument for a saner, sounder, smarter leadership going forward.

ALONE.  Too many think that way these days.  Please share this video with them.  We’re Democrats.  We care.

THE WRONG WAY TO COMBAT VOTER FRAUD.  California decided to make it easier to vote in person.  Now, trump is attacking saying it is rife with fraud.  This is the same guy who doesn’t want people voting by mail.  Obviously, he wants no one voting.  Read about it here.

MIXED UP MESSAGE.  Per this article, some of the people protesting in Huntington Beach, California, against stay-at-home orders during the pandemic shutdown used signs reading “Social Distancing = Communism”.  The article points out that it is a similar mindset to those who protested in 1959 carrying signs reading “Race Mixing is Communism”.

HOW MUCH IS A HUMAN LIFE ACTUALLY WORTH?  This article addresses the question with historical facts and insight you might like.

BIDEN & FDR.  Can we compare the two?  According to this article, we can.  The numbers are staggering and frightening, but the plan seems real, realistic, and what is needed.

WHO WILL WIN?  Read this article.  It isn’t pretty, but it does say we need to work on the battleground states.  It also gives good indication of what we need to stress when talking about our candidate.

PUTTING HIS LIFE ON THE LINE TO SAVE OTHERS.  No, this is not about a nurse, fireman, or others you may think about first.  This is a heart-warming story of a young man willing to do so much for others.

12 VP CANDIDATES.  Sometimes it seems everyone has their own opinion as to who should be Biden’s VP choice.  Here is an article that gives the pros and cons on 12 candidates.

HOW FAST & EASILY COVID=19 SPREADSThis article and video says it all.  The video shows the virus quickly spreading in a buffet environment.

MASKS AND THE PRESIDENT.  Why is the president now manufacturing red masks sporting his name to give away at rallies when he won’t wear one?  Read this for info.

HOW MUCH WARNING?  To hear trump tell it, he reacted quicker than anyone to the pandemic.  Really?  Let’s look at the truth.  It is well documented that the White House was informed in mid-January, but he didn’t start to help, if you can call it help, until two months later.   Thanks to FOIA requests, we now know his security advisors told him about it in November 2019.  Per this article, Dr. Fauci published a warning 9 days before trump was inaugurated in 2017.  In comparison, Obama declared a national health emergency within 2 weeks of learning about a flu epidemic starting.

FARMERS:  Do you know which progressive president happily signed an act creating the Department of Agriculture?  That progressive president was Abraham Lincoln on May 15, 1862.  Regretfully, his party today gives you kind words, but no real helpful action.

WWII & THE PRESIDENCY.  What if trump had been in charge during WWII?  This article provides an answer.

DIDJANO?  Did you know that Germany plans to close all of its nuclear power plants by the end of 2022?  Watch this 1-minute video to see some of the progress.

EMBARRASSED.  Why did a life-long republican say he is embarrassed?  Watch this 2-minute video to know.  I suspect you will agree with his thinking.

ELIMINATING WATCHDOGS.  Why would trump fire the people whose job it is to watch for corruption and abuse in the federal government?  Watch this.

WHAT IS TRUTH?  Read this enlightening opinion piece to see one person’s view.

AMERICA CAN STILL KILL ITSELFHere is another thought-provoking opinion piece.

Words of Comfort:

It’s Going to Be Bad
Rachel Hackenberg
May 16, 2020
“Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away.’ … I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe.” – John 14:27b-29 (NRSV)

It’s the speech that I call The Great Assurance – Jesus’ efforts to prepare, to steady, and to comfort those closest to him before the you-know-what hits the fan.

“You have heard me say, ‘It’s going to be bad.’ I’m telling you again – it’s going to be bad – so that when the bad begins and when the bad overwhelms you, you’ll be prepared to hold on to love and remember that you’re not alone.”

Infectious disease experts are telling us that the bad will be with us for many months.

Climate scientists are telling us that the bad will be impacting human behavior for decades to come.

Psychologists are telling us that the bad could have generational consequences.

Genocide scholars and anti-racism activists are telling us that the bad will keep rearing its evil head, day after day.

“I’m telling you, ‘It’s going to be bad,’ so that you’ll be prepared to hold on to love and remember that you’re not alone. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”

Friends, it’s bad these days – for a lot of reasons. Many of us feel unprepared. Instability is on public display when we most need steadiness. Comfort seems to be practicing social distancing.

Prayer
It’s bad. It’s really bad, and the end isn’t in sight. Let there be love, for the living of each day. Let there be solidarity, for the perseverance of healing.
